Our approach to energy, resources and the natural environment around PRIESTEREGG<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”vc_row-flex” css=”.vc_custom_1560778897073{margin-bottom: 60px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=””]The Pinzgau region of Austria. High mountains, rushing mountain streams and lush alpine meadows characterise the landscape surrounding our chalet village in Leogang.<\/p>\n

We grew up here and have lived with nature for generations. That is why it has always been important to us to use energy, water and other resources consciously in the operation and further development of PRIESTEREGG.<\/p>\n

We focus on specific measures: an individually designed energy system, the use of different energy sources, cooperation with regional partners and suppliers, and architecture inspired by the traditional building style of the region.<\/p>\n

Our employees are also an important part of our philosophy. Treating one another with respect and creating good working conditions for our team are matters of course for us.<\/p>\n

Architecture rooted in the region<\/strong><\/p>\n

PRIESTEREGG was created with the aim of drawing on the traditional architecture and craftsmanship of the Salzburg region and incorporating them into the design of our chalet village.<\/p>\n

Regional types of wood, including larch, Swiss stone pine and spruce, were used in the construction of the chalets, villas and PRIESTEREGG Bath. When designing the outdoor areas, we also wanted to integrate the existing landscape and provide space for native plants and trees.<\/p>\n

Inside the chalets and villas, we use natural materials and a design inspired by the surrounding landscape and Alpine traditions.<\/p>\n

Energy from different sources<\/strong><\/p>\n

From the very beginning, when planning the chalet village in 2009, our aim was to cover as much of PRIESTEREGG’s energy requirements as possible through our own technical solutions.<\/p>\n

In 2019, this concept was further developed and technically implemented in cooperation with the Viessmann Group. The energy system is located in the basement of the PRIESTEREGG Bath, where several technologies are combined.<\/p>\n

Different energy sources are used together to provide heating, hot water and other energy requirements across the resort.<\/p>\n

The majority of the resort’s energy requirements is covered by renewable energy sources. Which source is used depends, among other things, on current demand and the energy available at the time.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css=””]Our energy sources<\/strong><\/p>\n

The energy supply at PRIESTEREGG combines several different sources.<\/p>\n

These include:<\/p>\n

  • Solar energy<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Geothermal energy<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Biomass<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Biogas<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Heat recovered from wastewater from hot tubs and pools<\/strong><\/li>\n
  • Energy from water<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    One component of the system is a thermal ice storage system. Energy is extracted from the water until it freezes. The energy stored in this process can then be used at a later stage. In summer, the ice storage system is used, among other things, to cool the buildings.<\/p>\n

    The individual components of the system are interconnected and coordinated through a central control system. This allows the respective energy source to be used according to the conditions and the intended application.<\/p>\n

    This technical solution was developed together with Viessmann and adapted to the specific requirements of our chalet village.<\/p>\n

    A look behind the scenes<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Energy systems don’t have to remain hidden.<\/p>\n

    How we use resources<\/strong><\/p>\n

    As farmers, we have always had a close connection with nature. We know that an intact landscape cannot be taken for granted and that responsible use of its resources begins with many small decisions.<\/p>\n

    In our daily operations, this includes working with regional farmers and suppliers, choosing shorter supply routes where this makes sense and is possible, and using water, energy and consumables consciously.<\/p>\n

    Our guests can also contribute \u2013 for example, by using towels and bathrobes more than once or by enjoying our spring water in a glass.<\/p>\n

    Sometimes, it is the small decisions in everyday life that help us use our resources more consciously.<\/p>\n
